The Story

Modestep had a specific Mask on sale that had been out of stock for long, which gave me the idea to design the Modestep DIY Mask: A ready to print mask in an A4 sized PDF.

Using a website, Facebook and Twitter to spread the word, the first photo appeared only a few days after launch. Many followed since and the Facebook page has received over 1.500 Likes. Modestep included my work in their official marketing strategy, created a Facebook App for it and handed my masks out at their live concerts.

After the success of the initial launch of the Modestep DIY Mask, I built an online tool where fans of the band could created their own Modestep DIY Masks by uploading their own images.

Within the first 9 hours after launch, over 900 unique masks had already been created.

Global reach

Attending one of the Modestep gigs in Bucharest, Romania, one fan shared this photo wearing the Original mask.

He was the first to share a photo wearing the mask together with the 2 core members of the band.

Foot Locker x Modestep

Aside of many concert photos, the Modestep DIY Mask ended up showing up on one of their promo photos for a Foot Locker collaboration.

New album release collaboration

For their new album launch, Modestep contacted me to collaborate to promote the album.

Two new DIY Masks were provided by Modestep and shared via Modestep DIY Mask to promote their new album release “London Road”.
